PACE TRACK AND FIELD TEAM'S COMPETE AT THE NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

LOWELL, MA - The Pace University men's and women's track and field teams competed in their final event of the season at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships hosted on the campus of UMass Lowell.

The Pace men's team was led in the track events by freshman Randy Cruz (Wayne, NJ/DePaul Catholic) who finished in 15th place in the Men's 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.45 seconds. The Setters had their best showings for the championships in the field events. Mike LaMonica (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) led the way for Pace finishing sixth in the Men's Javelin Throw with a distance of 48.48 meters. Junior Sam Asbeck (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) continued the solid Setter finishes in the field events with a 13th place finish in the Men's Long Jump with a jump of 5.89 meters. The men's team finished the championships in a tie for eighth place with Assumption College.  

On the women's side, Sarah Rodriguez (Ossining, NY/Our Lady of Victory) recorded the highest finish on the day for any Pace female track athlete as she finished in seventh place in the Women's 10,000 Meter Run with a time of 44:29.96. Michele Tanzi (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) had a solid effort for the Setters in the Women's 800 Meter Run finishing in 11th place with a time of 2:38.99
