VOLLEYBALL RALLIES BACK FOR WIN OVER SAINT MICHAEL'S
COLCHESTER, VT - The Pace University women's volleyball team won three straight games after falling in the first game to rally past the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College in the Setters' Northeast-10 Conference opener. The Setters fell in the first game 23-30, but took home the victory by winning the next three 30-20, 30-25, and 30-25 to post their first victory of the young season and improve to 1-1 and 1-0 in conference play. The Purple Knights drop to 2-3 and remain winless in the NE-10 at 0-2.
Junior Korena Johnson (Friendswood, TX/Clear Brook) led the way as three Setters posted double-digits kills in the match. Johnson finished with a game-high 15 kills, while classmate Danielle Furka (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) totaled 11 and sophomore Stephanie Aboagye (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) tallied 13. Johnson also had a team-high 10 digs and two block assists along with five service aces. Senior Ashley D'Agostini (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines) tallied a game-high 45 assists, while chipping in four kills and six digs. Freshman Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Polytechnic) posted nine kills and a pair of solo blocks on the afternoon.
Pace returns to action on Tuesday, September 11th
when they host the University of Bridgeport in a non-conference
match at the Goldstein Fitness Center to a 7:00 pm start time.
