VOLLEYBALL WINS THRILLER OVER QUEENS, 3-2
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University women's volleyball team won an exhilarating 3-2 marathon match this evening over the Knights of Queens College in a non-conference match at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The Setters won a sea-saw battle as they fell in Game 1, 23-30, took Game 2, 30-23, lost the third game 23-30 before taking home the victory, winning Game 4 30-24 and Game 5 15-9. Pace improves to 4-2 overall, while the Knights drop to 5-3.
Junior Korena Johnson (Friendswood, TX/Clear Brook) led the Setters with 14 kills, while classmate Danielle Furka (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) posted a double-double with 11 kills and 18 digs.
Ashley D'Agostini (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines) recorded a triple-double, totaling 10 kills, 25 assists, and 14 digs. Freshman Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Polytechnic) chipped in eight kills, while adding three total blocks, while classmate Victoria Pompilus (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mt. Vernon) added eight kills and a team-high five blocks.
Freshman libero Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) tallied a team-best 21digs, along with two service aces. Jessica Anderson (East Northport, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) totaled 19 digs, 19 assists and two aces.
Pace returns to action when they host Saint Rose on Saturday,
September 22 in a Northeast-10 Conference match at the Goldstein
Fitness Center for a 3:30 pm start time.
