VOLLEYBALL ROLLS PAST AMERICAN
INTERNATIONAL, 3-0
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University volleyball team defeated the Yellow Jackets of American International College in three straight sets, 3-0 (30-15, 30-8, 30-21) this afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference volleyball match at the Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center on Pace's Pleasantville Campus. With the win Pace improves to 11-13 on the season and 8-4 in the NE-10, while American International falls to 5-11 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
Seniors Rebecca DePaoli (Brewster, NY/North Salem) and Ashley D'Agostini (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines) were honored before the game as part of the Senior Day celebrations. D'Agostini led the Pace attack recording a triple-double with 11 kills, 26 assists and 10 digs, to go along with a pair of service aces. DePaoli chipped in with seven kills on the afternoon.
Juniors Korena Johnson (Friendswood, TX/Clear Brook) and Danielle Furka (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) contributed with nine and seven kills respectively. Furka also recorded a team-best 14 digs.
The Setters also received solid contributions from their freshmen Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly), Victoria Pompilus (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mt. Vernon) and Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, NY/City Honors). S. Johnson finished the game with three service aces and two block solos, while Pompilus recorded six kills and Kazmierczak chipped in with 13 digs.
Pace returns to action on Friday, November 2nd when
the Setters travel to Lowell, MA to take on the University of
Massachusetts - Lowell River Hawks in a Northeast-10 Conference
volleyball match. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
