VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO #1 SEED BRYANT IN NE-10 SEMIFINALS
WALTHAM, MA - The 5th seeded Pace University women's volleyball team fell to the #1 seeded Bulldogs of Bryant University in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament 3-0 (30-21, 30-27 and 30-23) at the Dana Center in Waltham, Massachusetts. The Setters end their season with an overall record of 13-16, while the Bulldogs improve to 29-12 on the season and advance to the finals of the conference tournament where they will square off against Merrimack College, who defeated the host Bentley College in the other semifinal match. The final is set for 7:00 pm tonight.
Freshman Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Polytechnic) led all Setters tying for the game-high in kills with 12, hitting .440 on the day, while junior Korena Johnson (Friendswood, TX/Clear Book) recorded 11 kills. Senior Ashley D'Agostini (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines) set up the Pace attack with a team-high 34 assists.
Junior Danielle Furka (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and freshman Jessica Anderson (East Northport, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) each totaled team-highs in digs with 13 apiece. Furka also finished the game with eight kills and four service aces. Freshman Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) chipped in with 11 digs. Freshman Victoria Pompilus (Mount Vernon, NY/Mount Vernon) ended the game with five block assists.
For Bryant, Likicia Grceva led the Bulldog attack recording a
double-double with 12 kills and a game-high 16 digs, while Morgan
Wood added 11 kills and Julie Geonnotti and Miranda Kolb
contributed with nine and eight kills respectively. Tiffany Garry
recorded a game-best 38 assists setting up the attack, while also
totaling 11 digs for the double-double. Delia Glover and Maureen
Atkins chipped in with 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
