SETTERS FALL TO UMASS LOWELL IN OPENING ROUND OF NE-10 TOURNAMENT

LOWELL, Mass.- Susana Verdugo-Del Real (El Centro, CA/Southwest) led the Setters with 15 kills as Pace fell to UMass Lowell 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 15-25, 26-28) in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament. The Setters fall to 17-11 overall, while the River Hawks improve to 20-9 and advance to face the #8 seed Southern Connecticut State University Owls in the semi-finals.

Victoria Pompilus (Mt. Vernon, NY/Mt Vernon) chipped in with 13 kills and three blocks, while Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) totaled eight kills, five digs, and four blocks. Shea Hansen (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) tallied 42 assists, four aces, four digs and four blocks while Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) recorded 23 digs and five aces. Kazmierczak would earn All-Tournament Team honors as she averaged 5.75 digs in the match.

The Setters, ranked seventh in the final NCAA East Region poll of the regular season, remain in the hunt for a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA selection show will be live on http://www.ncaa.com at 9 pm on Sunday, November 15.
