VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN OPENING ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT TO NEW HAVEN
OAKDALE, N.Y. - The Setters fell 3-0 to the #2 seed Chargers of the University of New Haven in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. This was Pace's sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament in school history. The Chargers won the match 25-17, 25-14 and 25-18. Pace finish the 2009 season at 17-12, while the Chargers improve to 25-5 and advance to play #3 seed University of Bridgeport.
Pace was led by Sianna Johnson (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) who finished with eight kills along with six digs. Susana Verdugo-Del Real (El Centro, CA/Southwest) totaled seven kills, while Stephanie Kazmierczak (Buffalo, NY/City Honors) recorded 11 digs. Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) posted six kills, four assists and six digs, while Shea Hansen (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) handed out 21 assists.
