PACE CONTROLS LE MOYNE 69-49

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Maria Brown (Frederick, MD/Frederick) scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half to lead Pace to a 69-49 win over Le Moyne in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball game at Grant court. The Setters (20-6, 15-6 Northeast-10) pick up their 20th win of the season, while Le Moyne (11-15, 7-14 Northeast-10) drops its fourth consecutive contest.

Sophomore Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was Le Moyne's only double-figure scorer with 13 points. Junior Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) scored nine points off the bench, senior Ann Belforti (Watertown, Conn./Taft) and freshman Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) added seven each. The Dolphins shot just 33.3% (17-for-51) from the field and 32% (8-for-25) from the free throw line.

Pace jumped out to a 33-20 lead as Le Moyne suffered from a 1-for-12 effort from the free throw line in the opening half. The Setters pushed their lead to 22 points in the opening minutes of the second half and never saw it dip below double figures the rest of the way.

Brown led three Setters in double figures. Junior Ashley Wallace (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) scored 12 points and Hannah Sheppard chipped in 11 points. Sheppard helped Pace to a 48-32 advantage on the glass with a game-high eight rebounds.

Le Moyne College seniors Ann Belforti, Kelly Davis (San Jose, Calif./Monroe CC), Katie Kramer (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida), Andrea Pluchino (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and Maureen Van Vorst (Middletown, N.Y./Minsink Valley) were honored prior to their final home contest.
