MAYNARD-MORRIS NAMED TO NE-10 25TH
ANNIVERSARY TEAM
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace University graduate Wanda Maynard Morris was one of 10 women’s basketball players named to the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Basketball 25th Anniversary Team. Maynard-Morris played for the Setters from 1998 through the 2001-02 season.
Maynard-Morris, considered one of the greatest players ever to wear the Setter Navy and Gold, is the only player in the history of Pace women’s basketball to finish her career ranked in the top 5 all-time in points scored, rebounds, steals and blocks. Her 1,804 career points rank 2nd, her 1,128 rebounds rank 3rd, her 346 blocks rank 2nd and her 220 blocks rank 2nd all-time. She also ranks 13th all-time in assists with 322. During the 2001-02 season, she totaled 571 points and in 2000-01 she finished with 536 points, good for 3rd and 4th, respectively, on the single-season points scored charts. Her 116 steals in 2000-01 rank 2nd all-time.
During her time at Pace, Maynard-Morris led Head Coach Carrie
Seymour’s Setters to the 2000-01 NCAA Division II Northeast
Regional Title and advance to the Elite Eight, earning her Regional
Tournament Most Valuable Player honors. That season she was
named Pace Athletics Female Athlete of the Year after earning Pace
Athletics’ Athlete of the Month four times. That season
she was also honored as a Daktronics 1st Team All
American. Following the 2001-02 season, Maynard-Morris was
named the Pace Athletics Letterwinner of the Year, the highest
award given by Pace Athletics, and was also the first player in
Northeast-10 Conference history to be named Player and Defensive
Player of the Year in the same season. That season she was named a
WBCA Kodak All American as well as a Division II Bulletin
All-American. For her career, Maynard-Morris was named to the
Northeast-10 Conference 1st Team three times, the
Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference All Star Team three times
and the Daktronics All Region Team three times. In 2002, she
was also named the MET Basketball Writers’ Association Player
of the Year.
