SETTERS ON TOP 69-57, OVER SNHU

MANCHESTER, NH –  The Pace University women’s basketball team defeated Southern New Hampshire University, 72-66, in their second Northeast-10 Conference game of the season. Pace improves their NE-10 record to 2-0, while also improving to 3-0 overall.  SHNU falls to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Junior Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY) led the Setters with 17 points, senior Maria Brown (Frederick, MD) added in 15 points. Pace held a 53-51 lead with just over five minutes left, when the Setters took control with eight unanswered points.  A jumper by Wallace with 2:17 left capped the spurt and gave Pace their first double-digit lead of the game at 61-51.  SNHU came no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Senior Chrisondria Griffith (Brockton, MA) led SNHU with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, while freshman Alyssa Whitney (Somerville, MA) added 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.  Sophomore Sara Tucker (Red Hook, NY) chipped in nine points and 12 boards for the hosts.

Junior Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, CT) helped the Pace cause with 11 points and seven rebounds. Pace senior Andrea Padelsky (Lebanon, PA) scored two points late in the game, giving her 1,001 points for her career.

A tightly played first half featured five ties and neither team led by more than six points during the half.  The game remained close throughout most of the second half, before the Setters put together their decisive run.

Pace returns to action on Sunday, November 27, when they host Assumption College at 1:30pm at the Pleasantville campus.
