THREE PLAYERS, COACH SEYMOUR HONORED BY
ALL-MET WRITERS
WALLACE, KLINGELE, AND BUCHRIS NAMED TO ALL-MET TEAM
COACH SEYMOUR NAMED DII COACH OF THE YEAR
WHITE PLAINS, NY- Pace University senior Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) was named to the First Team All-Met, while classmate Liran Buchris (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South) and junior Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) were honored on the second team. For the fourth time in her career, Head Coach Carrie Seymour was named the Division II Coach of the Year. The voters were comprised of members of the National Invitation Tournament and the Met Writers Basketball Association.
Wallace had a solid senior campaign. This year, she was named to the NE-10 All-Conference Second Team. She has set career highs this season in points with 467, rebounds with 199, steals with 33, blocks with 19 and field goal percentage shooting 56.5%. On December 16, 2006 at Le Moyne, she became the 21st member of Pace's 500 rebound club. On February 7 also against Le Moyne, she became the 21st member of the 1,000 point club. The following game against Southern New Hampshire, she notched a new career-high with 31 points. She ranked 2nd in the NE-10 in field goal percentage, 6th in scoring and 19th in total rebounds, while placing 10th in the nation in field goal percentage. Wallace was a two-time NE-10 Player of the Week this season, while being named on the conference Honor Roll seven times. She was also named to the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Honor Roll three times this season.
Buchris had a career-year in her senior season. This year, she set career-highs in points with 342, rebounds with 102, assists with 200, field-goals with 124, three-pointers with 44 and steals with 49, while shooting 89.3% from the free throw line. She led the NE-10 in assists and ranked sixth in three-point percentage, second in minutes and fourth in assist to turnover ratio. She was named to the NE-10 Honor Roll seven times this season. On January 9, 2007 against Southern Connecticut, she became the eighteenth player in Pace history to join the 250 assist club. She finished her career 12th in Pace history in assists with 362 and third in three-pointers with 105. This year, she served as the Setters' team captain.
Klingele continued to build on her excellent collegiate career in her junior season. She was named to the Northeast-10 Honor Roll eight times this season. She was selected to the NE-10 Conference All-Conference Third Team. She set career highs this season in points with 393, rebounds with 137 and field goals with 146. Klingele also set new career game-highs in points with 24, achieving that feat twice as well as three-pointers with five, accomplishing that three times. In the NE-10, she ranked 4th in three-pointers, 11th in three-point percentage and 17th in scoring. She is second on the all-time three-point list with 183 three-pointers. In the season finale in the NCAA Northeast Regional semifinal, she became the 22nd player in school history to score 1,000 career points. She will begin her senior season with 1,005 points.
In her fifteenth season at the helm of the Setters, Coach
Seymour overcame the loss of five players from last year's squad,
including three starters, to notch her third straight 20-win
season, posting a 24-9 record. The Setters reached the Northeast-10
Conference Tournament Finals for the first time in school history
and earned the #3 seed in the NCAA Northeast Regional. The Setters
received a bid to the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive year.
The Setters won their NCAA opening game against American
International before losing to Bentley in the Northeast Regional
semifinals.
