PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up, by the score of 60-56, tonight at the Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center on the Pleasantville campus of Pace University. The lose snaps Pace's five game winning streak. The Setters fall to 5-1 on the season, 3-1 in the NE-10, while the Ravens improve to 4-1 overall, 3-1 in conference play.
The Setters took control of the game early building a 14 point lead with the help of an 18-4 run, capped off by a jumper from freshman Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern). Losey scored all of her five points in the first half and ended the day with six rebounds. After trading baskets back and forth, the Setters would maintain their 14 point lead heading into the break, 33-19 with the help of Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) and Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, CT/Norwich Free Academy). Klingele scored seven of her team-high 14 points in the first half, while Sheppard scored five of her 11 points in the first frame. Sheppard also ended the day with a team-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double. The Setters never trailed in the first half with the help of their defense, holding the Ravens to 25% shooting from the field.
The Ravens quickly cut into their deficit by starting the second half on an 11-1 run, highlighted by a lay-up from Johannah Leedham. Leedham scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the second half. Leedham would also record a game-high 14 rebounds giving her a double-double on the night. Other Ravens aiding in the comeback were Vanessa Power and Josie Lidke. Power scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half, while Lidke scored seven of her 10 points in the second half. Franklin Pierce would eventually tie the game with 4:00 minutes to go at 48 on two free throws by Leedham. It was the first tie since the 15:53 mark of the first half. The Ravens would take their first lead of the game minutes later on a lay-up by Lidke. The Setters would tie the game again at 50 on a jumper from Klingele, but the Ravens would take the lead right back, this time for good, on a three pointer by Power. The Ravens held the Setters to 23% shooting from the field in the second half, while they shot 45% from the floor and 60% from beyond the arc.

2nd, when they travel to Manchester, New Hampshire to
take on Southern New Hampshire University in a Northest-10
Conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
