WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO FRANKLIN PIERCE, 71-61

RINDGE, NH - The Pace University women's basketball team fell to the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University, 71-61, in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball match earlier today at the Fieldhouse in Rindge, NH. The Setters fall to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in the NE-10, while the Ravens remain perfect at 5-0 overall, 3-0 in conference play.

Freshman Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) had a career game for Pace as she notched a career-high 21 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field, including 3-for-7 from three and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line, to go along with a career-high 7 rebounds. Sophomore Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) added 13 points, while senior Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) was the third Setter in double figure scoring with 11 points. Senior Stephanie Rossmy (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) filled the stat line with a team-high 9 rebounds and a game-high tying five assists, to go along with 8 points. The Setters shot 44.0% (22-for-50) from the field, including 22.7% (5-for-22) from beyond the arc. Pace was solid at the line going 12-for-13 (92.3%) from the stripe.

Johannah Leedham recorded a double-double for the Ravens scoring a game-high 23 points to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with five assists. Toby Martin and Jennifer Leedham each contributed with 12 points apiece, while Josie Lidke added 11 points. Franklin Pierce shot 48.2% (27-for-56) from the field, including 40.7% (11-for-27) from three, but were only able to convert 42.9% (6-for-14) from the free throw line. The Ravens also held the rebounding edge 35-26.

The first half featured a tight battle with six ties and five lead changes as neither team was able to build a strong enough lead to separate themselves. The Ravens would eventually take a two-point lead, 34-32, heading into the break.

The beginning of the second half featured much of the same as the first with one more tie and six lead changes. A Losey jumper with 13:55 left in the ballgame gave Pace a one point lead, 46-45, but a three-pointer from Johannah Leedham during the Ravens next possession gave Franklin Pierce the lead for good as the home team never looked back. The Ravens would push their lead to double digits on a 12-2 run from the 12:08 mark to the 6:16 mark. A three pointer from Martin with 2:04 left in the game gave Franklin Pierce is largest lead of the game, 69-56. The Ravens would cruise the rest of the way taking the game 71-61.

Pace returns to action this Saturday, December 1st, as the Setters will square off against the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball match. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 pm at the Goldstein Health, Fitness & Recreation Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
