SETTERS UNABLE TO FLY WITH SKYHAWKS IN 62-52 LOSS
EASTON, MA- Pace junior Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) led the Setters offensive attack by scoring a game-high 16 points, but the Setters were unable to keep up with the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in a 62-52 Northeast-10 Conference loss. Huggins also took down five rebounds in the contest. The loss drops Pace's record to 9-5 overall and 6-3 in the NE-10. For the Skyhawks, the win improves their record to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
The Setters came out to a slow start by allowing the Skyhawks to go on a 23-5 run through the game's first 12 minutes. From there, a 13-0 run by Pace made the score 23-18 and sliced the Setters' deficit to within five. Unfortunately for Pace, those would be the final points it scored in the first half as Stonehill went on a 8-0 run the rest of the way to make the score 31-18.
The Skyhawks would continue to maintain their lead in the second half, even expanding it to 20 points in the beginning. Pace would attempt to make a rally back, but Stonehill maintained at least a 10 point lead the rest of the way to seal up the victory.
Along with Huggins, Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) was also solid offensively, by draining 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting, along with collecting five boards. Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) led the Setters in rebounding with six boards.
The Setters will be returning to action on Tuesday, January 12 when they come back home to face off against the Hawks of St. Anselm College in a Northeast-10 Conference game set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Pace's Goldstein Fitness Center on the Pleasantville Campus.
