LOSEY NETS 26 POINTS TO LEAD PACE TO WIN OVER SAINT ANSELM
SETTERS DEFENSE STRONG IN 55-47 VICTORY

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) tallied a game-high 26 points to lead the Setters to a 55-47 victory over the Hawks of Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 10-5 overall and 7-3 in the NE-10, while the Hawks fall to 6-8 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

Losey would come strong for the Setters as she scored Pace's first 12 points but the Setters would still trail in early action. The Hawks would build a lead of seven at 19-12 with 6:25 left in the opening half. Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) would lead Pace back with four points in  10-2 run to close out the half to put the Setters up 22-21 at the break. The Setters defense held the Hawks without a field goal over the final six minutes with only two free throws accounting for Saint Anselm's two points.

The Setters opned the second half with a 6-0 run as Losey hit four free throws and Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) hit a lay-up to put Pace up by seven at 28-21. The Hawks would hang around, closing to within four points three times over the final 11 minutes of the game but the Setters responded each time. The Hawks' Megan Howard bucket with 3:31 left in the game pulled Saint Anselm to 46-42 but a Welsome triple and a pair free throws put Pace up buy nine to seal the victory.

For Pace, Losey finished with 26 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Welsome finished with 10 points and four assists, while Connolly totaled eight points and four boards. Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) led the Setters with five rebounds.

Pace returns to action on Saturday, January 16 when the Setters will travel to Colchester, VT for a Northeast-10 Conference game against the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College at 1:30 pm.
