HUGGINS NETS CAREER-HIGH 26 POINTS IN PACE'S WIN OVER ST. ROSE

ALBANY, NY- Junior Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) scored a career-high 26 points on 7-of-12 shooting to lead Pace's women's basketball team to an 85-72 victory over Northeast-10 Conference foe St. Rose. Huggins also totaled five boards in the contest.

The Setters improve to 2-2 overall, and 2-1 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights fall to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play this season.

Both teams stayed close to each other in the first half which included eleven lead changes.

Pace would take and hold on to the lead with a little under three minutes remaining in the first half, after a layup from junior Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) made the score 33-31. That momentum would help the Setters enter halftime with a 42-35 lead over the Golden Knights.

The second half would start with a three pointer from Laura Mooney (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) which gave Pace a ten point lead. St. Rose would eventually slice their deficit within five, but the Setters ultimately pulled away for the 13 point victory.

Along with Huggins, Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) also had a good afternoon draining 20 points, and taking down six rebounds.

Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) put up solid numbers as well with nine points scored, a team-high seven rebounds, and a game-high eight assists.

Pace shot 92% (24-of-26) from the free throw line which was a key stat in the victory.

The Setters will return to action on Wednesday, December 2 when they come home to face off against NE-10 foe Le Moyne College for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
