WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM TIES SAINT MICHAEL'S IN NE-10 OPENER
COLCHESTER, VT- The women's soccer team tied Saint Michael's College, 1-1, in the Setters Northeast-10 Conference season opener. The Setters move to 2-1-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play, while the Purple Knights are 2-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the NE-10.
Following a scoreless opening period, the lone goals by each team came a mere 24 seconds apart. The Setters took the lead in the 50th minute on the sixth goal of the season by Tiffany Robinson (Shelton, CT/Shelton) off an assist by Cynthia Mendoza (Costa Mesa, CA/Costa Mesa). The Purple Knights came right back with the equalizer 24 seconds later as Carissa Gildea posted her fourth goal of the season, with an assist from Kelly Boulter. The teams played two scoreless overtime periods as the game would end in a 1-1 tie.
In the net for the Setters, Alexa D'Agostino (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall Central) went the distance, posting seven saves and allowing one goal. For Saint Michael's, Gillian Goldman also played the full 110 minutes, stopping four shots and allowing one goal.
The Setters return to action when they host the College of Saint
Rose on Monday, September 3, in the Setters' Northeast-10
Conference home opener. The game is scheduled to start at 11 am at
Pace's Briarcliff campus.
