WOMEN'S SOCCER DROP TO AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL 5-3
SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Pace women's soccer team lost to American International, 5-3, in a Northeast-10 Conference game. The Setters drop to 2-4-1 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play, while the Yellow Jackets improve 3-3-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the NE-10.
The Setters got the board early in the game as Tiffany Robinson (Shelton, CT/Shelton) netted the first Setters goal on a penalty kick in the sixth minute of the game. American International would rally late in the first half, scoring four unanswered goals over a period of seven minutes with the final two coming less than a minute apart and took a 4-1 lead into halftime.
The Yellow Jackets would maintain their three-goal advantage until late in the second half as the Setters mounted a rally as Dania D'Alessandro (Victor, NY) scored off a feed from Amy Rinehart (Waukegan, IL/Carmel). Robinson would slice the Setter deficit to one less than one minute later with another goal. American International would go on to add one more goal in the eight-eighth minute to seal the win.
In net for the Setters, Alexa D'Agostino (Highland Mills, NY/Cornwall Central) started and played the first half, allowing four goals, while stopping three shots. Jacqueline Gogel (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) came on in relief in the second half, making three saves, while allowing one goal.
The Setters return to action when they host Merrimack College on
Saturday, September 15, for a Northeast-10 match schedule for a
3:30 pm kickoff on Pace's Briarcliff campus.
