WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM FALLS TO #17 RANKED FRANKLIN PIERCE
RINDGE, NH- The Pace women's soccer team lost to the #17 ranked Ravens of Franklin Pierce University, 3-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference game. The Setters drop to 2-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in conference play, while the Ravens improve 6-1-2 overall and 4-1-2 in the NE-10.
The Setters held the #17th-ranked team off the board in the first half, despite the Ravens' eight shots in the opening half. Pace was held without a goal or a shot in the period.
The Ravens struck early in the second half as Jenna Giardina netted a goal in the 52nd minute off a feed from Gabriela Demoner. Franklin Pierce would score again just over three minutes later as Demoner would put the Ravens up 2-0 with the assist being credited to Thatiane Preisler. Demoner would get her second goal of the day, scoring on a penalty kick in the 76th minute of play to cap the scoring for the day.
In net for the Setters, Jacqueline Gogel (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) went the distance stopping four shots and allowing three goals. For Franklin Pierce, Jenna Mello also played 90 minutes, recording five saves.
The Setters return to action when they host Southern Connecticut
State University on Tuesday, September 25 in a Northeast-10 game
scheduled for a 4:00 pm kickoff.
