WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM DROPS 1-0 TO SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT
BRIARCLIFF, NY- The Pace women's soccer team lost to the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 1-0, in a Northeast-10 Conference game played at Pace Briarcliff campus. The Setters drop to 2-7-2 overall and 0-6-2 in conference play, while the Owls improve 4-4-2 overall and 1-4-1 in the NE-10.
The teams played a scoreless first half as the Setters had several shots that either ended in saves or just missed putting Pace on the board. The Owls attempted four shots but did not record a shot on goal.
Southern Connecticut struck early in the second half, scoring in a 50th minute off a loose ball in front of the net. Lindsay Stanton was credited with the lone score of the afternoon. The Setters did not go quietly as they had additional just-miss shots on goal that could not find the back of the net as the Owls were able to hold off the late flurry of shots by Pace to escape with the win.
In net for the Setters, Jacqueline Gogel (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) went the distance stopping two shots and allowing the lone goal. For Southern Connecticut, Katie Didio (Vernon, Conn./Rockville) also played 90 minutes, recording four saves.
The Setters return to action when they travel to Lowell, Mass.
to take on UMass-Lowell on Saturday, September 29 in a Northeast-10
game scheduled for a 2:00 pm kickoff.
