WOMEN'S SOCCER FAILS TO COMEBACK AGAINST LE MOYNE
BRIARCLIFF, NY- The Pace women's soccer team lost its Northeast-10 conference game against the Le Moyne College Dolphins 3-1 this afternoon. The loss makes the Setters fall to 1-2-1 overall and 0-2-0 in the NE-10, while the Dolphins improve to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the NE-10 with the win.
The Dolphins took an early lead in the match, after Melissa Cathcart netted a goal off a corner kick in the 7th minute. Their lead would increase to 2-0 in the 17th minute with a goal from Gabriele Ariola.
The 2-0 lead would remain standing until the second half. In the 47th minute, Meghan Tremblay (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland) netted herself a goal that brought the Setters to within one.
In the 58th minute Mariah Darrah (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free) fired a shot that went of the finger tips of Le Moyne goal keeper Kelsey McGee. Off of McGee's deflection Seanna Wright (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) kicked the ball hard right back at McGee, who prevented Pace from tying the match up.
In the 71st minute, Le Moyne finally pulled away when Caitlin O'Rourke netted the third and final goal for the Dolphins.
Pace goalkeeper Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) went the distance in the match making nine saves, while Le Moyne goalkeeper Kelsey McGee also went the distance making seven saves.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, September 12 when the face off against Northeast-10 conference opponent Saint Anselm College at 2 pm on Pace's Briarcliff Campus.
