WOMEN'S SOCCER DROPS NE-10 MATCH TO SAINT ANSELM

BRIARCLIFF, NY- The Pace women's soccer team failed to make a comeback against Northeast-10 opponent Saint Anselm losing by score of 2-1 this afternoon. Pace falls to 1-3-1 overall, and 0-3-0 in the NE-10, while the Hawks improve to 3-1-1 overall, and 3-0-0 in conference play.  

Neither team scored in the first half, but the Setters were more successful on offense by outshooting the Hawks 10-4.

Finally, at the start of the match's 73rd minute, Saint Anselm's Erin Griffin fired in the first goal of the match giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

Within the next minute, Heidi Reece, would extend the lead for the Hawks by netting a goal of her own.

The Setters struck back in the 88th minute when Mary Lynch (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac HS) scored the first and only goal for the Setters in the match.

Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) went the distance in goal for the Setters, saving nine shots.

For the Hawks, Jennifer Davis also went the distance, making eight saves.

Women's Soccer returns to action on Wednesday, September 16 when the travel to Garden City, NY to face off against NE-10 Adelphi University at 6 pm.
