Palladino Qualifies for NCAA Nationals in Dual Meet Win Over Queens

QUEENS, NY- Sophomore diver Jenny Palladino (Pleasantville, NY/Byram Hills) qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships as she hit the qualifying mark in a dual meet win over Queens College. The 2014 NCAA Championships will be held from March 12-15 in Geneva, OH. The women's swimming and diving team defeated the Knights 157-78 to open their dual meet schedule.

Freshman Kaitlyn Fitzgerald (Ashburn, VA/St. Anthony's) posted a pair of win as she took first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:10.84, while winning the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:20.64. Georgie Goulding (Wellington, New Zealand/Wellington Girls High School) took the win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.50, while Kaitlyn Lynch (Vallejo, CA/Solano C.C.) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.26. The Setters also won the 200-yard medley relay as Paula Castelblanco (Bogota, Colombia), Colleen Carroll (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville), Lynch and Hannah Oleksak (Blandford, MA/Williston Northhampton) posted a time of 1:58.19.

The Setters will host a tri-meet on Sunday, November 10 against Le Moyne and Assumption at 2 pm.
