Pace Comes Up Short Against Top Ranked New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT- The Pace University Volleyball team battled but came up short against top ranked New Haven 3-0 (29-31, 19-25, 14-25) in Northeast-10 Conference action.

The Setters fall to 4-21 overall and 0-9 in the NE-10, while the Chargers improve to 17-4 and 8-0 in conference play.

Rebecca Italiano (Lynbrook, NY/East Rockaway) had 15 digs in the match while Miki Carver (Oceanside, CA/Fallbrook) tallied 20 assists, two aces and two blocks for the Setters.

In the first set, Pace and New Haven were all square at 25 and the Setters pushed ahead by one on a Samantha Harting (Irvine, CA/Laguna Beach) kill assisted by Carver. Later in the first set, the Setters stayed alive with a kill by Kayla Witwer (Southlake, TX/Carroll) to make the score 28-27. Pace would rally to keep the score close but would eventually lose the first game 31-29. Pace went on hold early leads in the second and third set but the Chargers rallied in both sets to win the match in three sets.

Ashley DiFulvio (Lakewood, CO/Dakota Ridge)  tallied eight kills, 10 digs and two aces for the Setters, while Witwer finished with nine kills, three total blocks and two aces.

Pace is back in action this Friday, November 1 as the Setters host Southern New Hampshire University at 7 pm in the Goldstein Health and Fitness Center. Friday's match features Super Hero Night with the best Halloween costume receiving a gift from the Pace Volleyball team.
