Volleyball Drops Tough Five-Setter to Southern New Hampshire
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University volleyball team took the Southern New Hampshire Penmen to five sets before being upended by SNHU 3-2 in a Northeast-10 Conference match by scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-21, 16-25, 5-15.
Pace jumped out early and took control of a close first set by going on a 10-4 run at 15-15 to close the set out. After dropping another close set in the second, Pace won the third 25-21 in a set that saw freshman Samantha Harting (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach) record three of her match-high 11 blocks. The Penmen would rally, however, for the final two sets to take the match.
Overall, freshman Kayla Witwer (Southlake, TX/Carroll) led the Setters with 15 kills while fellow freshman Ashley DiFulvio (Lakewood, CO/Dakota Ridge) had 12 kills to go along with 18 digs. Freshman Miki Carver (Oceanside, CA/Fallbrook) tallied 43 assists for the match.
Pace is back in action at home tomorrow at 1:00 pm as they take on NE-10 foe Franklin Pierce. It is Fan Appreciation Day and mini volleyballs will be given away to fans in attendance.
